We will take Holy Communion, reflect, and pray tonight in the sanctuary in honor of the last supper. Maundy Thursday represents the night that Jesus and the disciples gathered together in the Upper Room for their last meal together. Jesus washed the disciples’ feet and instituted what we now call Holy Communion. Besides showing the importance of humility and fellowship, Maundy Thursday’s scriptures reminds us of the great commandment to love one another as Jesus has loved us. Maundy comes from the Latin word “mandate” for this reason.
