We help minister to older people in our congregation who cannot get out as much as they used to as well as other senior citizens in our community who may be lonely or needy.  We do this through visits, special music, and volunteering.  In Fall 2012, four members of our congregation were honored with a distinguished service award for their commitment to the Hermitage of Northern Virginia, a local senior assisted living facility.

As our emphasis on senior citizens falls during the colder months, we plan to meet several times during the mission quarter to crochet and knit small squares that can be combined into a larger afghan through the Warm Up America charity to help keep a needy senior citizen warm.  No previous knowledge of knitting or crocheting is required since we have some experienced teachers in our midst.  Check the church calendar for scheduling.
