As we begin the month of November, we turn our thoughts toward Thanksgiving. While it is true that we should always be thankful to God for our many blessings, gratitude is a particular emphasis at this time of year. Why is an attitude of gratitude so important?

The Bible urges to express gratitude to God for his goodness and the gifts that are present in each of our lives.

1 Chronicles 16:34: “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.”

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18: “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

Emerging scientific studies suggest that gratitude also has a positive effect on people who practice it. Since God has given us all many gifts, let us show our gratefulness.
